Thinking of Hope!

Hope is a wonderful word, rather a wonderful thing, that keeps the world moving.

It is the hope that tomorrow will always be better that keeps the people start everyday.

However, when it comes to the usage of this word, many a time, the hopes are shattered.

Thinking of which, people often mistake the word "hope" for "think" and they hope it is the same.

There is still hope, let's see how it works..

A colleague of mine called me when I was sick and he said

"I hope you are very sick and I think it will take a few days to recover"

Though I got irritated at first, I then realized, what he meant was

"I think you are very sick and I hope you will recover in a few days"

When you say you hope, you are not just thinking, but you are expecting something..

That means, when you hope someone is sick, that means you expect them to get sick which might only be true, when you are in high school and you forgot your math homework hoping that the math teacher gets sick :(

Hope it helps :)

  9. Thesaurus is to be referred to learn how to use a particular word.
In fact there is no synonyms; each word is meant to be used at a particular situation. Usage is most important in selection of a word.
