Carriers and Careers

We were having our school friends get-together and our doctor friend who has been working overtime in the covid ward could not mingle well said,

"Sorry guys, this carrier is hectic, can't focus on other things"
I asked
"You mean the carrier of the disease?"
He said, "No, my own carrier"
Knowing my friend, it's then I realised he meant career and not any carrier..

We turned to our teacher friend who's always happy to help and he explained

"It's all about pronunciation buddies,

Carrier (pronounced 'carry-er') is something/someone used for carrying something, like a luggage carrier or goods carrier, may be even an infection carrier..

whereas, a career (pronounced 'ka-ri-yer') is about your profession and I hope that's what you meant"

Just when another friend pointed,
"As a covid doctor, his career is all about carriers, isn't it?"
